VR for eLearning

Analyzing an emerging technology for its safety, legality, and ethical use is essential to ensure that it is developed and used in a responsible and beneficial way. Here are a few reasons why:

Should we use VR as an eLearning technology?

Through my analysis, I recognized that there are a lot of issues and potential implications in using VR for eLearning. Ultimately, I think the decision to use or not use this technology relies on whether it will be most beneficial to the learners. There are many skills and situations in a hospital setting that can be taught in an engaging and safe manner with virtual reality. In a later post I will review the many uses specific to medical care (the use cases are fascinating and broad).

The tools needed to create engaging experiences depends on the organizations budget and future usage. A 360-degree camera and a VR headset could be all that is needed to create an engaging learning experience if the organization already has a course authoring program like Adobe Captivate that has a built in VR creation tool. If the company plans to use VR in their training, they need to have an option to view the activity on a computer screen instead to ensure all participants get a similar experience.

I would suggest this technology because it can give learners a realistic experience in an environment that allows them to ask questions and take their time learning. VR can create engaging experiences for learners to take at their own pace.
